about

The roots of Counting on Downstairs are in an ensemble called Furnace Hour that did a series of live events in Fredericton around the turn of the millennium. Marc LeBlanc was the composer and "orchestra chief" and John Born, Chris Giles, and myself were part of the group that numbered anywhere from nine to fourteen members.

The four of us have played in all forms of duos, trios, and quartets over the years, and for this holiday season, since John and Marc were visiting Fredericton from their respective new homes, we figured why not turn a reunion jam into a public performance.

Also performing this evening was the duo of Joel LeBlanc (guitar) and Brian Mitton (drums), playing a selection of Joel's compositions, and we thank them, not to mention Tate Lejeune and Connexion ARC for their assistance.

This piece was an improvisation surrounding a lightly planned structure... we hope you enjoy it.
